When copy editing an electronic document, I look over the text and correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, and other basic technical errors. I also make note of other issues that require your attention and flag them with comments. I follow the Chicago Manual of Style for most documents; if you use AP or another house style, let me know.

For academic writing, I can check the text, format, and citations to make sure they comply with MLA, APA, AMA, Chicago, or Turabian style. (This is included with copy editing at no extra charge: if you want me to format your paper, thesis, or dissertation in a particular academic style without editing, look here.)

$3/page ($15 minimum) for Word documents in standard format (double-spaced, default margins, 12 point font)
If you email your text as an MS Word file, I will read through it, make corrections, and return an edited copy with my changes marked using Word's Track Changes feature. (Alternatively, I can highlight changed text in red font, but that will take longer and be less precise.) Click here for examples.

$0.015/word ($15 minimum) for text in other formats (PDFs, PowerPoint presentations, and Word docs with non-standard page sizes/formats)
If you email me a PDF file to edit, I can make notes in the document with Adobe Acrobat's markup and commenting tools. If more extensive changes are needed, I may also copy the text out of the PDF and edit it in Word.

For other file types, such as PowerPoint presentations or HTML documents, I can make changes directly but won't be able to mark them.
